Class Descriptions:
Puppy Kindergarten – Class goes for 4 weeks, designed for puppies 6 to 16 weeks, cost of the class is $90.20 (with tax) per puppy. This class has a heavy emphasis on socialization, both with people and other dogs. Your puppy will be learning techniques to build “coming when called” and good leash manners into adulthood, as well as “leave-it” “sit” and door manners. We will discuss breeds, dog body language, and mouthy behavior. What to bring: buckle collar, 4-6 ft leash, and your pup’s favorite treats. What not to bring: training collars, harnesses, chain or retractable leashes.
Basic Obedience – Class goes for 6 weeks, designed for any puppy/dog over 16 weeks, cost of the class is $140.05 (with tax) per dog. This class covers coming when called, walking on a loose leash, sit and down commands, sit/down for lengths of time and with distractions. Any dog under 1 year of age will be eligible for the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Certification. What to bring: buckle colla, 4-6 ft leash, and your pup’s favorite treats. What NOT to bring: harnesses, chain or retractable leashes.
Intermediate Obedience – Class goes for 4 weeks, designed for any dog over 20 weeks of age who has been through our basic obedience class. Cost of the class is $90.20 (with tax) per dog. This class utilizes Brenda Aloff’s “Get Connected” protocol and your dog’s natural body language to build a bond between you and your pet. Class will cover getting and keeping your dog’s attention, “layering” sits and downs for solid-stays. What to bring: buckle or clasp collar, 4-6 ft leash, and your pup’s favorite treats. What NOT to bring: harnesses, chain or retractable leashes.
Rally 4 Fun – Class goes for 4 weeks, designed for any dog over 16 weeks of age who has completed our Basic Obedience Class. Cost of the class is $90.20 (with tax) per dog. This class is JUST for fun!!
Canine Good Citizen Evaluations – $30/test. An American Kennel Club program that recognizes and rewards responsible dog owners! Visit www.akc.org for more details. Please call us to schedule a test.
Vaccination Requirements for students 4 months and over:
Rabies, Distemper/Parvo, Bordetella
Puppy under 4 months need to be current on boosters and have a stool sample checked by your veterinarian.
ABOUT THE TRAINER:
Kristin Sandstede has been teaching group and individual obedience since 1998. She has spent 20 years working in the pet care industry, 2 years of those working as a Veterinary Assistant. She has a very good understanding of not only dog handling, body language, and behavior but a medical background as well. Kristin is Canine Good Citizen Evaluator for the AKC, which not only allows her to perform Canine Good Citizen testing, it also allows puppies that are under 1 year old and that have completed her basic obedience class to automatically be eligible for the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program.
